A good while ago, I wrote a post about my go-to product for treating seriously dry skin. (If you missed it, you can view that post at the link below!) That post was a bit out of the ordinary because I donโt usually dedicate a whole post to talking about one particular product. But I felt compelled to tell my readers about that product, because the whole purpose of this blog is to share “good things” (even if it is just a cream for treating dry skin).
Related: The “Miracle” Cure For Your Seriously Dry Skin
And to my delight, that post was very well received! I ended up hearing from several readers who had been searching for a product like that, and were grateful that I had shared that recommendation with them.
Because that post was so popular, Iโve decided to turn it into an ongoing series! Every once in a while, Iโll tell you a bit about a product that I absolutely swear by, and why I love it. Today Iโll be telling you about my very favorite bed sheets.
A few years ago, my sister Rebecca told me that she had gotten a set of bamboo bed sheets, and she recommended that I give them a try. So I ordered my own set, and they immediately became my favorite sheets Iโve ever owned!
What Are Bamboo Sheets?
Bamboo bed sheets are just like regular sheets, except theyโre made with bamboo fiber instead of cotton or synthetic materials. Bamboo stocks are harvested, dried, and then ground up into pulp. The pulp is dried in flat sheets, which are then milled into a fluffy fiber. Then the fiber is woven into some of the softest sheets known to man (or at least to me). ;-)
Bamboo grows extremely quickly for a plant, and you don’t need to cut it out or kill it in order to harvest. This means that bamboo is actually a highly renewable and sustainable resource, which makes bamboo sheets an environmentally-friendly option!
Another environmentally-friendly feature of the bamboo plant is that it is naturally antimicrobial, so it doesnโt need to be treated with pesticides as it grows. And those antimicrobial properties are retained during processing. So not only are bamboo sheets super soft, but they can also help control odor-causing bacteria and pesky allergens for an even more restful nightโs sleep.

Why I Love Them
It bears repeating that these sheets are seriously so soft. In fact, you donโt even have to bother with checking thread counts, because most bamboo sheets donโt have them. Any brand of bamboo sheets will likely be softer than even the softest, most luxurious cotton sheets!
Bamboo sheets are so soft that they even make it easier to sleep on, because the material seems to glide more easily against your skin. I can roll over and adjust my position in bed without feeling like Iโm taking the bed sheet with me.

Another reason why I love my bamboo sheets is that they feel so much cooler than cotton sheets. The coolness is a combination of the breathability of the fabric and its ability to wick moisture away from your body as you sleep.
Itโs hard to describe how these sheets seem to keep me at the perfect sleeping temperature all year round, but itโs absolutely true! Youโll just have to give them a try and experience it for yourself. ;-)

Are They Worth The Money?
When I first told you about my favorite bamboo sheets, they were a bit of a splurge. But since then, the price of the bamboo sheets I recommend has come down a lot! Now a full set is around $95 (compared with $270 before), which I think is a steal for something you use every single night. Or, if you’re in the no-top-sheet camp, a set is $65!
I’ve had my current set for a couple of years, and they still look and feel amazing, so I can definitely say they’re worth every penny.
You can definitely find cheaper options for bamboo sheets out there (and some that are a lot more expensive!). Check out bamboo sheets on Amazon to find a range of price options that can fit your budget! Regardless of which bamboo sheets you try, I should warn you that you may never want to go back to cotton sheets again! ;-)

Caring For Bamboo Sheets
I thought Iโd also mention a few quick tips for caring for bamboo sheets. Theyโre pretty durable, but there are a couple of things you can do to ensure that your sheets will have a long and happy life!
Wash them in cool water. Washing in cool or cold water will help preserve the fibers in your sheets, which will keep them silky soft. (But itโs okay to use warm water every once in a while when your sheets are particularly dirty.)
Avoid bleach and phosphates. Detergents that contain bleach or phosphates can damage the bamboo fabric of your sheets and cause them to wear out faster.
Dry on low heat. Tumble dry bamboo sheets on a low- or no-heat setting. Avoid over-drying them to prevent wrinkles.
So thereโs the scoop about my very favorite bamboo bed sheets. I hope youโve learned something, or that Iโve at least managed to pique your interest! Oh, and one final warningโฆ once you climb into a bed with bamboo sheets on it, you may never want to get out! ;-)
Have you tried bamboo sheets yet?

These sheets sound nice, but I am definitely concerned with the chemical-intensive viscose process which raises environmental concerns regarding the chemicals used. And then to be sleeping on them raises more concern.
Please log in or create a free account to comment.Iโve owned several sets of bamboo sheets. The best so far are Quince. Buy them direct, online. Superb and affordable.
Please log in or create a free account to comment.I paid quite a bit for bamboo sheets (I like being green!). I loved them at first but, over time, they pill and the fabric stretches out. I went to Amazon and bought California Den cotton sheets which I absolutely love!! I also bought an extra set of pillowcases that are bigger than the standards that come in a set. They fit my pillows better. They wash nicely and very few wrinkles (esp. for cotton). I have quite a bit of Bamboo including tables but I won’t be buying sheets!
Please log in or create a free account to comment.Bought a queen set on Groupon marked as bamboo fibre. Looked and felt just like cotton, so I thought this was a ripoff or mistakenly labeled. Then one day at Homesense I saw sheets labeled โTercelโand they were awesomely soft like fine silk. Bought them and went looking for another set.
Please log in or create a free account to comment.Didnโt find that brand again, but recently came across a set (in Homesense again) labeled โBambooโ and these are just as wonderful! Not all sheets marked bamboo are of this quality and whatโs with most Iโve seen looking and feeling exactly like mediocre cotton? Buyer beware.
I didn’t know you live in Utah. I lived in Sandy for 18 years
Please log in or create a free account to comment.Hi neighbor! :-)
Please log in or create a free account to comment. When checking on Amazon at your sheets, I am single and only need twin size and the only color option was the off white when I would want white white. And the price disappeared like they don’t sell them right now or something. I am a linens freak honestly so this article peeked my interest, but I have a few reservations. About a year and a half or so ago I got the mid range priced twin set in white at the Boston Store (RIP.) They were in the retail price of about $75 or so I think, but on sale. I LOVED how they felt and just adored them until I washed them. I washed in the medium cycle, cold water and low heat drying and they pilled up like CRAZY! If I’m going to buy bamboo but simply can’t afford your brand since it doesn’t seem to be selling them right now and won’t give me a price… how am I supposed to trust buying a less expensive brand? I can’t stand pilling so they were returned immediately. What is a girl who uses twin size supposed to do for some descent white soft sheets similar to yours but on a budget? Any suggestions?
Please log in or create a free account to comment. It looks like they are out of the twin size for now. What a bummer! You could wait for them to re-stock, or you could try out a different brand of bamboo sheets: https://amzn.to/2FwV5zs
Just be sure to check the reviews!
Please log in or create a free account to comment.I washed the pillow cases in warm water and they did shrink so I’m keeping the set! The wash directions the company provides does not mention anything about using detergent without phosphates so I’m wondering what detergent you’d recommend that does not have phosphates in it? I currently use Tide and won’t be making any homemade detergent–sorry! :)
Please log in or create a free account to comment.I make my own, so haven’t tried any. But it looks like there are lots of great options with good reviews on Amazon: http://amzn.to/2G9S1es :-)
Please log in or create a free account to comment.I bought a queen set and they are soooo soft and wonderful, but they are too small for my Tempurpedic mattress. I have an adjustable base and when I raise the head the sheet comes close to slipping off. I will say, however, that the elastic on the fitted sheet is fairly strong, so hopefully it will hold, I just worry about it over time. Even the pillow cases just barely cover my down pillows. I know that I can return them, but I love them, so I’m not sure what I will do.
Please log in or create a free account to comment.sew a piece of elastic across the “corner” of the sheet. The elastic goes under the mattress when you put the sheet on and keeps the sheet in place. I have to do this with my sheets for the same reason. I have an adjustable base too.
Please log in or create a free account to comment.OK I am very surprised that no one who has bought these sheets has mentioned that the pillow cases are SO VERY LONG! I measured my king pillowcase and it’s 41″ long–my pillow is 36″ long and it looks like a messy oversized clownish bed when made up. I called the company and they said it should be 40″ long (still looks messy IMHO). They said to wash ONLY the cases in hot water to shrink them up so I’ll try that but I like a neat looking bed and these cases will not provide that. Crossing fingers they shrink to about 2″ over the pillow itself. Just a warning for those who like to make a quick neat bed and don’t want to fuss with folding over pillow case ends under pillows.
Please log in or create a free account to comment. On your suggestion, I bought 3 sets of queen size bamboo sheet sets. These were a great value on amazon.com – not that expensive and they came with 4 pillow cases instead of 2. YAY – great value. You were also correct in them being so very soft! Love them for that. However, they are not cool sleeping. The coolest sheets I have ever found to sleep on and would remain relatively cool, are made out of Percale. They stay cool wherever your body isn’t touching, so you can roll over and enjoy more coolness.
Please log in or create a free account to comment.I have always used only cotton, and I loove white…..How easy are bamboo sheets to keep stark white?
Please log in or create a free account to comment.I don’t think these are any harder to keep white than my previous cotton sheets :-)
Please log in or create a free account to comment.Hi, your site is fantastic, Iโve learned so many helpful things, thank you. The Cariloha site is running a sale now. I am posting this and going to purchase the sheets ASAP.
Please log in or create a free account to comment.I agree, Amy! I just LOVE this blog and have also learned so many useful things, thanks Jillee! I just bought these sheets and love Love LOVE them!
Please log in or create a free account to comment.I’m so glad! Thank you!
Just a FYI, Cariloha sheets have a lifetime warranty. So price honestly shouldnโt be an issue because they will be the last pair of sheets youโll ever have to buy. ;)
Please log in or create a free account to comment.I have had a set of bamboo sheets for a number of years. Believe it or not they get softer with age. Sadly my set had some weak spots in really odd places in the fitted sheet & has worn out. I still use the pillow cases & flat sheet with a co-ordinating fitted sheet. I do agree, they are definitely worth the money.
Please log in or create a free account to comment.I love your posts and have collected most of them. But your videos, I can not hear a word you are saying. Is there a particular reason for that?
Please log in or create a free account to comment.I have the same problem, I can’t hear your videos either. I keep forgetting to ask my sons for solution.

Nobody has mentioned whether Bamboo sheets need ironing? I live in a very hot country & never have to tumble dry my sheets, so I was wondering if anyone else line dries them & if they still need ironing then?
Please log in or create a free account to comment.I don’t iron them. :-) If you take them directly out of the dryer and put them right on your bed, they won’t be too wrinkly!
Please log in or create a free account to comment.I never iron them!
Please log in or create a free account to comment.I have the same sheets same brand too and while I agree with you overall. I have a dickens of a time getting spots out – I eat in bed. My bad but thatโs the way it goes!! Iโve pre treated with all sorts of stuff and theyโre still grease spotted. Grrrrrr

Please log in or create a free account to comment.I agree the sheets are super soft and comfy! But they were too hot for me during our summer months in the Central Valley of California (100 degrees plus). I switched back to cotton.
Please log in or create a free account to comment. We got a set of bamboo sheets for our king sized bed this fall…super deal on line. They are absolutely the softest, best sheets we have ever had, and I like good sheets!
Please log in or create a free account to comment.Okay. This is crazy. I commented on this earlier. I probably wouldnโt buy these because theyโre too expensive for my taste. Like I said earlier thanks for bringing your favorite things – products back. I sometimes find something worth trying or ideas for others.
Please log in or create a free account to comment.I have used bamboo sheets for a few years and give them for gifts…I knew before I read it that you were going to talk about bamboo sheets…they are fab and don’t shift all over the bed…warm and cool whatever the temp requires
Please log in or create a free account to comment. These sounded so wonderful!! I need some and was going to try to figure out the dollars so I could get a set. I usually check the 1 and 2 star reviews too. How could those and the 4 and 5 star reviews be of the same product?!!
Not that I don’t trust you Jillee but I just don’t have that much money to waste to find out. :-(
Please log in or create a free account to comment.I have been sleeping on bamboo sheets for a while now. I love how soft they are and they don’t seem to sag once you sleep in them. I tried the Egyptian cotton sheets and they just don’t add up to the bamboo ones. I also use the bamboo towels in my bathroom. They are also very soft and absorb so much more.
Please log in or create a free account to comment.I agree. My bamboo sheets are also my favorite. So comfortable.
Please log in or create a free account to comment.I have bought both dh and me Bamboo socks for the last 5 years. So soft and they help keep foot odors down. I find men’s bamboo socks sometimes at Kohls. I also love to sleep in a tank that is rayon from bamboo. I have noticed that Goodwill stores here in Idaho have, included in the new stuff they sell, bamboo pillows and sheet sets. I love my Costco Kirkland 540 ct supima cotton sheets and my Costco Charisma egyptian cotton sheets. They take several washings to get really soft, but they do get nice and soft.
Please log in or create a free account to comment.I love my bamboo sheets! They really are the softest, coolest, comfiest sheets you will ever own!!!
Please log in or create a free account to comment.I agree about the bamboo sheets and the best towels i have ever had are bamboo towels you should try them, they dry you after 1st wash they are so soft and they don’t get smelly.
Please log in or create a free account to comment.I wish the brand you love wasn’t so expensive! I really want to try them but I can’t afford those prices. Maybe someday……
Please log in or create a free account to comment.I got mine from Wholesalebedding.com for about $63 for a king sized set. They have pretty good sales, give them a look!
Please log in or create a free account to comment. Thanks, Stacey!
Just a question here; years ago thread count was the number of threads per square inch so the more threads per square inch the longer the sheets would last and had nothing to do with softness. Has thread count changed to mean the degree of softness or silkyness?
Please log in or create a free account to comment.Nope, but the thread count does effect the softness. :-)
Please log in or create a free account to comment.I notice you sometimes promote products like the Miracle Cream for dry skin or the brand of Bambo Sheets or Mirco fibre Cloths. There are others but do you really think they are the best personally or I are you just promoting the product? Do these company’s help support your website or is it really just because you love them? I’ve been taken a few times by other people on other websites saying that the products are the best. Which I found out they weren’t.
Please log in or create a free account to comment.Thank you!
This post and the cream post are absolutely my personal favorites! These two are the first two in a series of posts that simply highlight a product that I love! Some posts are sponsored (and they will say so at the top of the post), and I am able to support the website with those. However, I always share my honest opinions!
Please log in or create a free account to comment.I have been sleeping on Bamboo sheets for the last 17 years. I always buy mine on Overstock.com because I find they have the best selection, price, and I can read the tons of customer reviews which is helpful. I won’t sleep on anything else. I will say they have gotten cheaper over the years.
Please log in or create a free account to comment. Are they stretchy? I have that purple mattress and I don’t like their sheets but the sheets have to be stretchy in order for the purple mattress to work.
Please log in or create a free account to comment.No. Bamboo sheets are not stretchy.
Please log in or create a free account to comment.Yes, they are. The reason I bought them was because we got a Purple bed, and they made a huge difference in the feel of the bed! I didnโt want to pay the Purple price, though, so I got mine from Wholesalebedding.com for about half the price.
Please log in or create a free account to comment.Be glad you didn’t get the brand ones. They make a full/queen and they fit the queen too tight. It is no longer a squishy bed with their sheets. I wish I had ordered the king size. and they have pilled so bad they are now scratchy to sleep on. I have gone to using the hand me down T-shirt sheets from my parents.
We bought these bamboo sheets while on a cruise ship, had them shipped to us. Also bought a set of their towels. Had been looking at bamboo towels, our old ones were worn out, expensive but really nice sheets/towels. Towels don’t get that nasty smell. Love them, worth the price. We keep sheets towels for at least 10 years so $ well spent. We bought the exact brand you did.Love them.
Please log in or create a free account to comment.I’ll have to try the towels next! :-)
Please log in or create a free account to comment.Thank you for this post, we were needing sheets, and I was happy to hear about the virtues of bamboo. I found a company from NJ, Hotel Sheets Direct, with good prices and free shipping, plus I got 10% off my first order. I can’t wait to try them!
Please log in or create a free account to comment.I bought a set of these same sheets a couple of years ago. Loved them! Sadly, though, when I washed them, they shrank and were all out of shape. Despite having washed them in cold water, they never fit the bed the right way again.
Please log in or create a free account to comment.I agree that bamboo sheets are the softest sheets I have ever had. BUT I prefer crisp and cool sheets made from polished cotton. Alas I only have one pair and can’t find them anywhere.
Please log in or create a free account to comment.I’m a new follower and love your site. Wonderful information and have tried several of your essential oil ideas. Learning is my favorite thing and you are a great teacher!
Cherry, try The Vermont Country Store (online and they also have a catalog they mail to customers). I found the old-fashioned crisp and fresh feeling sheets that I like. They are not cheap, but last forever!
Please log in or create a free account to comment.a key issue that I keep in mind over COTTON is the massive use of pesticides and that cotton is now Genetically modified by the same company that sells impoverished farmers around the globe the pesticides that are absorbed into our bedroom’s environment. Indian farmers have been so ruined by the relentless pursuit of Monsanto agents and their products, overwhelmed with ceaseless debts to Monsanto that thousands of these small farmers have taken to drinking their pesticides in suicides to spare their families further farming misery…however then families are evicted from their land and driven further into impoverishment. I urge readers to either searh out ORGANIC pesticide and GM free cotton or use bamboo fabrics which spare all the above misery!
Please log in or create a free account to comment.Bamboo definitely grows with less pesticides but the production phase is a chemical nightmare. The environment is actually better off with cotton, preferably organically grown.
For more info check out this site. https://goodonyou.eco/bamboo-fabric-sustainable/
Thanks for posting this information, Nicole. I was wondering when someone would bring this up. Organically grown AND processed bamboo fabric is available, but it’s quite expensive. If I’m spending that much for sheets, I’ll choose cotton organically grown in the USA instead.
Thanks Cherry!
Please log in or create a free account to comment.Truly delightful sheets. I too now have 100% bamboo sheets and they ‘re luxurious!!! The way they drape over you is so cozy. No, Chelle, they are NOT stiff, but silky! MINE were less than $30 on Amazon for a full size set- I was amazed. I had some before that were a 60/40 blend with cotton and they were lovely too but did not last long. It is interesting that when you get these wet, the fibers get stiff, and they are again silky smooth when they are dry@
Please log in or create a free account to comment. My bamboo sheets pilled badly over time. I had to regularly use a depilling device and eventually they wouldnโt fix.
Please log in or create a free account to comment. You are right Jillee! They are the softest sheets Iโve ever had! They look very smart too because they arenโt really prone to wrinkling. But I kind of found them to be a little hot. Has anyone else had that experience? Iโd really l8ke to know because I really liked the feel and looks of the sheets… Maybe another brand might be better than mine??
Please log in or create a free account to comment.Mine are definitely cool and breezy!
Please log in or create a free account to comment.I found one of my sets cool, and the others warmer. Turns out the warmer set was a scam, but I didnโt know until after my friend washed them in just cold water with a vinegar rinse before my first time using them… well, the tag you canโt see until you unfold the fitted sheets SAYS โmicrofibreโ, not bamboo, or anything like I was expecting. I think the cheap ones arenโt bamboo but use โbamboo feelโ or โbamboo touchโ in their name to trick consumers into thinking we can actually get real bamboo sheets under $30.
Please log in or create a free account to comment.Hi , going through menopause also. If you donโt want to spend Amazon price , try Macyโs Charter Club Damask sheets . I always wait for their sale.
Please log in or create a free account to comment.I pay less than $50.00 with their coupons , queen
Never wrinkle or shrink, only summer sheets I buy.
$199 is pricey for my budget but agree bamboo is cool to sleep on.
I use small amount of vinegar & wool dryer balls
Thanks for all the tips.
I love Cariloha sheets! I tried this several years ago when I had a terrible rash. Tried many sheet sets at lower and higher price points and carialoha. Once I had the care aloha sheets I was hooked . This year they had a roadshow at Costcoโs in Utah before Christmas. The price at Costco was lower than Black Friday pricing on their website. I bought a couple extra sets.
Please log in or create a free account to comment. All though not recommended I do was my sheets on hot and dry them on delicate or medium. Itโs a clean hang up – gotta be hot to be clean. Still no wrinkles and excellent condition.
I happen to love jersey sheets but hubby doesn’t. Are these similar to jersey or a tee shirt or are they more like a cotton, sort of stiff feeling? I SO need some soft, breathable sheets as I am one of the menopausal out there & suffer @ nite!!
Please log in or create a free account to comment. No they are not like jersey. They have no stretch like jersey, yet they are not stiff like cotton. They feel more like silk than any other fabric.
Please log in or create a free account to comment. They are pretty silky :-)
Please log in or create a free account to comment. We bought 2 sets of bamboo sheets last year at he state fair. I LOVE THEM! I tell everyone about them.

Do they make bamboo towels as well?
Absolutely! They would be great for your allergies. Here’s a link to their towels: http://amzn.to/2Ey9ZZB
Please log in or create a free account to comment.I bought my first set of bamboo sheets at a craft show. Vendor was selling bamboo pillows & I saw a few packages of sheets. Rather inexpensive for king size bed so I tried them. LOVE THEM! From that day on I pick up a set whenever I am at an event and the bamboo vendor is there. The PA Christmas craft show @ PA farm show bldg this past December had multiple stands selling sheets and pillows!

Costco has bamboo sheets. They are the best โ cool in Summer, warm in Winter. Love them.

Please log in or create a free account to comment.Once I bought my first pair of bamboo sheets I NEVER went back. I have given them as gifts to family and friends and everyone single person has converted as well. You will never find a softer sheet in any thread count. It is so important to wash on cold and dry on low. I have two sets that are at least 10 years old and they look brand new. Its funny it is the one thing I will not let anyone help me with. I wash my sheets, my hunny is not aloud (not that he minds) to wash these. He washed one set once while I was way on business and needless to say he shrunk them terribly. The fitted sheet never fit the mattress again and my king size sheets went to the spare bedroom on the queen size bed. In any case, listen to Jillee bamboo sheets are incredible!
Please log in or create a free account to comment. How do they dry when line dried outside?
Please log in or create a free account to comment.I haven’t ever line-dried mine, buy I’m sure they’d be just fine!
Please log in or create a free account to comment. When I saw the headline, I thought, โoh, she better mean bamboo sheets!โ I live in Hawaii and believe me hot flashes in the tropics do not make for a good nights sleep. I used to be a sheet thread count snob. Then I discovered bamboo sheets. Soft as silk but breathe better than cotton. And good for the environment. Whatโs not to love?! Thank you for spreading the word.
Please log in or create a free account to comment.Off subject but if you check labels and don’t eat anything with soy in it you won’t get hot flashes. If you get a hot flash think back to what you ate a few hours before and it will have soy.
Please log in or create a free account to comment. Thanks Dotti – good to know. I avoid soy for one reason or another and never had hot flashes. I am one of the lucky ones so I thought now I’m wondering if it is the soy thing. LOL
Hi Jillee, I was wondering what detergent brand has no phosphates? Also, totally not related to sheets, which dishwasher pods do not have phosphates also? You are a gem Jillee. Thank you for all you do.
